Today's journey was quite a straightforward one; northwest of Glasgow, across to Edinburgh.
After yesterday's 200 miles we had a great night's sleep on the first bed of the week! After a sleep in and a walk around the edge of Loch Lomond we had a big breakfast. The breakfast was great, but Loch Lomand was better. Stunning scenery up here. We've taken lots of photos; something we're not always able to do on the road.
After playing with the SatNav's for 20 minutes this morning (we eventually figured out you have to enter 'Scotland' as a country) we set off for the 80 mile journey. We skipped lunch and enjoyed the drive through more hilly scenery, and great weather. Actually, the best weather we've had on the trip has been in Scotland. After figuring out the SatNav problem we had full confidence in all this technology and duely followed all directions given. 2 hours later, in the middle of a housing estate, we were told by voice in the box 'You have reached your destination'. After more playing with the SatNav, and slightly more riding we arrived at our real destination.
We did have one small problem with one of our bikes today. We lost a gear selector going around a round about. As the parts are interchangeable on our bikes, 10 minutes later we were back to riding. Other than that, all the bikes have been running really well. Very smooth, and starting every time.
We've unpacked now, and have a long day tomorrow, so we're going to spend the rest of the day exploring Edinburgh.

Today's riding has been quite a slog. We had about 200 miles to cover so set off early. We set off from south of Lancaster and headed north through the Lake District, and through some fantastic scenery.
The days' riding involved mostly hilly terrain, and whilst the sun was out for most of it, we were slowed down by some fog at the higher altitudes. Not only did this slow us down, but made riding quite difficult as our visors were constantly misting over. Things started clearing again as the day went on.
On problem we've been having is the group getting separated. Our support van and one of the bike's are equipped with GPS, but not only are they often sending us in different directions, they're also predicting different distances and estimated arrival times. Getting split up can add time to the journey. We spent around 45 minutes searching for each other today that could have been better spent heading north! On any future trips we organise, we'll make sure each of the bikes are fitted with the same GPS system so we don't need to worry about people getting lost.
One of the more bizarre things I've seen today was the support van pulled over at the side of the road, with two legs sticking out from under the bonnet. I knew there hadn't been an accident and had trouble guessing what was going on. Apparently our support van driver needed to lie down for a minute or two as he felt dizzy. We did wonder if he maybe had the air conditioning on too high!
At the end of the trip's longest day we all collapsed into our beds. Quite a change from a hard floor and sleeping bag. Following the longest day, we have one of the shortest, so we're all looking forward to a bit of a lie in.

We've had a fairly long ride today, setting off from Colehead about 10am, heading up to Lancashire, about 300 miles away.
It's been fairly sunny today, so riding's been quite nice. Whereas yesterday's trip was mostly country back roads, today seems to be endlessly driving through small towns. One thing about this trip has been all the really nice people we've met along the way - that's something none of us had really thought about before starting this rally. We've come across some great characters at pubs, garages, coffee breaks and the entertainment evenings we've organised. We all quite keen to organise another rally soon. We'd probably shorten the route so that we could really explore an area before having to move on.
The bikes are also running well. We haven't had any breakdowns or non-starters; everything on the mechanical side of things has been running very smoothly. One of our team did have to make some minor custom modifications though - a sponge as a make shift pillow.
