Zing Rally for Help for Heroes – why take part?

Help for Heroes (H4H) was launched in 2007 to raise money to support wounded Servicemen and women from the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. Since then it has raised in excess of £1m each month.

Many extraordinarily brave young people have been badly wounded or affected whilst on active duty. H4H relies on the money made through fundraising events throughout the UK to be able to support these young people by funding facilities and services that would not otherwise be available.

Many of you will know someone who has been affected in some way by recent conflicts. Shijia Li, who joined ZingBikes on a three month intern programme in May, told us her story:-

My Aunt, living in Shanghai, was told recently that she had Lymphoma and only a month left to live. Her only son, my cousin, is a soldier in the US Army. Due to active service, he is not able to fly back to Shanghai to be with his mum in her final days. Even so, they are still grateful for life and smile every day.

I am very touched by this and believe there are many other soldiers in similar circumstances to my cousin. As I am studying in the UK I decided to do something really practical to support British soldiers and their families.

I spoke to Mike Ashmead, the Managing Director of ZingBikes. He was moved by my story and gave me his full support to organise the Zing Rally in aid of Help for Heroes.

Lands End to John O’Groats – Summer 2011

The Zing Rally 2011 is an eight day, seven night journey which will begin next summer, setting off from Huntingdon, passing by Lands End, travelling up to John o’Groats and back down to Huntingdon. The trip will be fully organised before you leave – we take care of everything leaving you free to enjoy the ride! As more details become finalised we will update the website.

Our target is to raise as much money as we can for H4H.

In the run up to the 2011 Rally we will be organizing local events to raise money for H4H on a monthly basis.
